Logline:
Our
Vets returning from Iraq and Afghanistan face the same Struggles, sometimes even more than our Vietnam Vets. Share their life & help them.
Synopsis:
The Struggles:
Neither
the Veterans, men or women, who put their lives on the line for our safety and
the very freedom we enjoy, nor their families, are given either the respect or
the attention they deserve when they return home whether they return dead or alive.
They,
the veterans, and their families face tremendous
challenges once back home from the war-zone and service. The vet who is
fortunate enough to return home alive or
injured he or she faces certain challenges that need to be tackled and
resolved. Among these challenges are: adjusting to the civilian life, post
traumatic stress, suicidal tendencies, social, trust, anger, and/or family
issues. An injured Vet faces additional issues such as: coping with his or her
injuries depending how severe and what type of injuries he or she has suffered,
and whether the injuries, are treatable, recoverable or permanent.
A
soldier who had the misfortune of making the ultimate sacrifice for his/her
country, the challenges for his or her loved ones are even greater than we can
dare to imagine. His or her family and friends need even more support to cope
with the new life they’ll have to adjust to the absence of their loved one, due
to the loss, and survival without him or her psychologically, emotionally,
socially, and financially.
The
show will explore and expose the many challenges our veterans face and offer
solutions, help, and acknowledge the importance of their service and sacrifices
for the country.
The show will awaken a sense of responsibility and awareness that our veterans
deserve more respect and understanding than we, the people, award them.
Scenes from the
Wars:
The
show will also show some war footage, as much as possible, or dramatization if
needed, from the actual war to show how our vets were involved, how dangerous
the war was, how much risk they took to protect us and our freedom, and how much
they sacrificed to secure our safety.
Return to
normalcy, The Positive:
Not
everything is sad and bad when our vets return home.
The
show will also show the many positive achievements our vets made and keep
making after returning home, the success stories that show their
accomplishments, and the good examples we can derive from their success to help
the others who have trouble handling their return home. Explore how some veterans avoided resorting to
alcoholism, drug use, where to seek treatment for their stress, anger, how joining
the necessary institutions for help makes a big difference in managing their
ills, and how teaming up with others for support eases their pain.
The
show will emphasize the beauty and benefits of the troops in returning
home. How it affects their families when
they are reunited and start their normal lives.
Conclusion:
Finally,
the show will make Our Veterans look and feel the Human, the Citizen, the proud
American who wants to realize the American Dream, he or she is.
