The Struggles of
the Baby-Boom-Generation
Logline: Baby
Boomers face new challenges and struggles, due to the growing number of divorce,
loss of spouse and technological illiteracy, to survive.
Synopsis: Exploring the challenges the
Baby-Boom-Generation is facing and will continue to face as life has become
more complicated. Advanced medicine has lengthened the life expectancy of most
everyone opening the door for spousal exhaustion, an increase in divorce cases,
a loss of a spouse, leaving a widow single for a longer period of time, and,
advancement in technology has left many behind in catching up with the times
and its consequences.
This is a reality many of us will end up
facing whether we like it or not and whether we are prepared for it or are
unprepared.
This show will bring this
reality upfront. It will expose situations people are facing in everyday life
in hopes of bringing solutions and ways people are coping, preparing, dealing,
and conquering their challenges.
The public will be an active
participant in making suggestions, expressing opinions, providing guidance, offering
ideas through social media such as Facebook, Twitter, etc.
Among
the many challenges the Baby-Boom-Generation faces are:
Loneliness: Losing a life partner, a
spouse to divorce or death is not an easy situation to be faced with especially
if the couple has lived together for quite some time. Loneliness is one of the
major causes for depression amongst adults.
The show will
tackle this problem and offer solutions on how to deal with
it and what can be done to meet other
people and where.
Dating: The long time elapsed between
dating and living a married life would leave many of the people in their
situation with lack of confidence to start dating again. Not knowing where to
go, where to look, how to approach, what to say and what to do if and when they
secure a date.
The show will
provide information and techniques where and how to find
and handle dating and how to deal with the
different opinions and stances their grown up
kids
might take when a new comer is in the picture.
Technology: In the internet era, it may be
surprising but it is definitely a fact that a majority of the
Baby-Boom-Generation is not up to snuff with the speed technology is advancing.
Many do not know how to use a computer, or how to search on the internet and
more.
The show will
have a few minutes in an indirect way to teach how to use
the computers and navigate the internet
where they can find an ample amount of interesting things including games,
information and even items on sale.
Social Life: Although unfortunate, the loss of a
spouse causes many friends and family to disappear. This has been a problem
since beginning of time. It is the main cause for depression among adults.
The show will
provide consultations and suggestions on how to be a participant or how to
create a new social surrounding.
Financial
Issues: The sudden loss of a life partner or a spouse,
and/or retirement, may cause a big drop in the household income which leaves many
people in a confused and shocked state. This may even cause the loss of their
home of many years along with their memories they had built in a lifetime.
The show will
offer some financial guidance on how to handle situations such as this that
they may face.
The Why? I believe: It is never
too late to learn, there is no shame
in asking, and there is no feeling like
the feeling of the personal satisfaction one gets by doing things that may help
other people.
The
Baby-Boom-Generation is coming to an age where they will
have to face major changes, being prepared for
those changes makes it much easier to deal with them.
